Dear Global Asthma Network colleagues and friends,
Happy Christmas.GAN Phase I is underway! We are delighted to have formal registrations from 106 centres in 43 countries and registrations continue to arrive. For those of you who have expressed an interest but not yet registered, we look forward to receiving your registration which can be done via the website using this link http://www.globalasthmanetwork.org/surveillance/register.php. Many centres are beginning fieldwork in the New Year, however some have already started and we wish you well. We are here to help if you have any questions. Please remember, that if you include the adult group (recommended), you may name a second Principal Investigator for your centre.
Data coding correction. By now you will have received an email regarding the error in the coding manual for question 62 for the 6/7 year age group questionnaire (parental completed). Please do take special note of the correction to this question for data entry for question 62.
In the GAN Global Centre in Auckland, Philippa Ellwood is the Research Manager, communicating with you as you start the fieldwork and send in data; and Eamon Ellwood is with us, although, very part time, due to ongoing funding restrictions. We hope this is rectified to some extent next year. Our Data Centres in London, UK and Murcia, Spain are geared up to have a very busy year ahead as the GAN Phase I data comes in for processing and analysis.
We include some photos of the research group from Uruguaiana, Brazil for interest and a news item. Please continue to send us items of interest for the newsletter as this is a good way to share information.
Although this newsletter is very brief, the main purpose is to wish you all a happy end of the year and start of the New Year. We hope you are able to have restorative holidays with your families and friends. We are delighted to be part of the Global Asthma Network and enjoy working with you very much.
On behalf of the Global Asthma Network Auckland Group, I wish you a happy and safe Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year.
