Surveillance

GAN Phase I Calculation of symptom prevalences

Calculation of symptom prevalences using the core GAN questionnaires (Asthma, Rhinitis, Eczema) for 13-14 years, 6-7 years and the adult group.

Unless otherwise specified, the denominator for each condition is the number of participants who returned a valid questionnaire. Valid is defined as having responded to at least one of the core questions for either Asthma Rhinitis or Eczema. For further detail on these calculations, contact info@globalasthmanetwork.org.

Significant studies with global surveillance data for asthma include the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC), for children and the European Community Respiratory Health Survey (ECRHS) and World Health Survey for adults. Data from all these studies are contained in the Global Asthma Report 2011.
